If you know me, you know I love color, and well color we shall have! This city has a little neighborhood called Bo-Kaap where there are so many colored houses and their so pretty. Of course, there is a reason for everything and this particularly neighborhood has it’s history. Back in the 1760s, these house were for rented to slaves coming from Indonesia, Malaysia and other parts of Africa. While the houses were rented, they were to be kept all white until that rule was lifted the owners decided to paint their houses to express each their sign of freedom. I don’t know about you but I would definitely do the same, especially if they were all white. Definitely another popular spot to visit.

Los que me conocen ya saben que me encantan los colores! Esta ciudad tiene una sección de viviendas llamada Bo-Kapp donde tienen las casas pintadas de todo tipo de colores. Claro, hay una razón para todo, y estas casitas también tienen su historia. En los años 1760s, estas casas fueron rentadas a esclavos de Indonesia, Malasia y otras partes de África. Mientras estas casas fueron habitadas por estos esclavos, fue una regla mantener las casas todas de color blanco, hasta que un día quitaron la regla y fue permitido que pintaran sus casas. Esta fue la manera en que ellos expresaron su libertad. No sé ustedes, pero si tuviera la oportunidad de pintar mi casa de colores, lo haría. Especialmente si ya está toda blanca.
